10 Nov 2011. Bilateral meeting with NATO Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Gabor Iklody.

On November 10, a bilateral meeting on cyber security between Director of the Information Technology and Communications Department under the Ministry of the Interior Gintaras Čiurlionis and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges Ambassador Gabor Iklody was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, whose Energy Security Centre ran the conference “Military Application of Energy Innovations” on 9-10 November in Vilnius.

At the meeting the NATO Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Gabor Iklody was updated on the activities of the Information Technology and Communications Department, which is the national body in the role of a Security supervisory authority, aimed to establish the requirements for the security of automated data processing (ADP) systems and networks used to store, process and transfer the information of the Republic of Lithuania, the European Union, NATO and other international organisations, to review the security compliance of such systems and networks and to implement other legislative objectives defined for the Security supervisory authority.

In addition, the basic provisions of the Electronic Information Security (Cyber Security) Development Programme for 2011-2019 approved with Resolution No. 796 of 29 June 2011 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the implementation measures of the programme executed by the Information Technology and Communications Department were discussed. The meeting outlined trends of cooperation between the Security supervisory authority and NATO in the field of electronic information security (cyber security).
